As the father of the original organic crop-protection movement, Hugh Grant was a pioneer in the environmental movement. He was known as a “father of the environment” and was an early advocate for limiting the use of pesticides. He believed that we needed to change the way we produce food, as much as we changed the way we live.
If you’re like me, you probably have a hard time remembering your dad. You can’t really remember him because he doesn’t really exist. We do remember him though, because we were all raised in the same town and we all had the same first name. H.G. was the one who grew up after me, and the person who first talked about food, farming, and the environment.
I love him. He is definitely an icon in my mind.
Thats why I love hugh grant. He was the only person in my life that I really felt like I had a connection with. I didnt know him or anything about him until I was already into my 20’s and I didnt really have a clue what he was doing. He was the closest thing I had to a dad, and he helped me so much with my life.
Although he never really knew me, he was the person who instilled this “I don’t want to live in this world without being able to see the sky,” attitude in me. He had this really cool, creative mind and it just took me so long to realize he’s the one who changed me into the person I am today.
What I remember most about him was that he was so smart and so kind. Even though he had a hard life, he was always there for me and I always felt like he could always hear my thoughts. So even if I was scared, or alone, or depressed, he would always come to my rescue because he was smart enough and kind enough to understand what I needed. He became the person I needed to be.
I remember that day I met him. A few years after my first day as a student at college, I was at the library. My roommate was late, and I was worried because I had to study. That was also the first time I had ever been in the library. I had no idea what to look for, what books to read, and what to ask for. But I asked the librarian if I could help. He said okay, give me three minutes.
So I take that as an invite to wander around in the dark for three minutes. He opens the door and says, “So are you a librarian?” I said, “No” He said, “Why?” I said, “I don’t know why.” So I tell him about my roommate, who was late.
This is where the librarian reveals he is a hugh grant. monsanto. After I left, he read a paragraph or two of his work to me and then he asked me to come back in one hour. That was the first time I got a chance to talk to him. I said okay, but when I got back in the next hour or so, he would be gone.
