I dont mean to throw this book at you. In fact, I’m sure most of you know exactly what I mean. It’s pretty easy to measure a process. You measure the work, the output, the time you spend on it, the quality of the input. However, the most important measure is the quality of the output. If you deliver a product that you know to be inferior to the best there is, then you know you are not delivering the best there is.

If the people don’t follow these practices, then you risk a project going south. That is why you want to keep the work as fast and as smooth as possible.

When you create a task, you need to know what to make of it and how to complete it. You need to know if it’s worth taking the time to do because it’s what is expected of you.

This is the other side of quality. How well is the project executed? The project manager should be concerned about execution, not only because good execution is the foundation for the rest of the project, but because it’s the only way the project is going to come together as well.
A project is never done well, unless the execution of the project is good too. The other aspect of quality is quality. Some people call it design. The actual definition of quality. The other aspect of quality is the execution.
