I’ve always loved the concept of the “Three levels of self-awareness.
So here is a simple demonstration of this concept. Assume there is a room with a door on one side (door A) and a door on the other side (door B). Now, assume that you have a second door at the end of the hallway that is the same height (door C). Door A is blocked from view by the door to door B, so the only way people know it exists is by having access to the hallway.
The first door is the only door that is visible from the hallway, so if you can figure out how to get to that door you can get to the other one. The second door is the only visible door from the hallway, so if you can figure out how to get to the second one you can get to the first, which means you are able to get at least one step closer to the door you want.
Door A has three possible ways into it. The first is through door B, and the second is through the hallway. The third is through the door in the hall. The hallway door is the least likely of the three, so the best way to get into Door B is to figure out how to get into the hallway, either by finding door B.
That’s the big question I have with Door A. Is it really that hard to figure out how to get to Door B or is Door B as hard to get to as door A? In the case of Door B, it is, so either that’s the most efficient method of getting to Door B, or that’s the easiest to get to Door B. I think it’s the easiest, because it’s a short ramp up to the door.
Door B is a two-door hallway. The door on the right is a door marked “B”. The hallway on the left is a hallway marked “A”. From the hallway on the right, you have to use the stairs on the right. From the hall on the left, you have to walk left to the next hallway, then follow the same path to the doors on the right.
Door B is basically two rooms. The first room is clearly marked B. The second room is the one we are standing in. We enter the first room, which is the room that turns out to be the one we are in. The hallway to the right is marked A. From the hallway on the right, we walk left to the hallway on the left. We walk down the hall on the left then turn left and walk past the doorway on the left.
This time, we’re in a hallway with another door on the right. The hallway on the left has a small doorway on it. This hallway leads to the next room. From the hallway on the right, we walk left to the hallway on the left. We walk down the hallway on the left and turn right, then walk past the door on the left.
We go through the doorway on the right and go into the room on the right. There is a bed in this room. From the hallway on the right, we walk left to the hallway on the left. We walk down the hallway on the left and turn right, then walk past the doorway on the right.
At this point in the game, we just walk past the bed and into the room on the right. You will notice an additional door and staircase. From the hallway on the right, we walk left to the hallway on the left. We walk down the hallway on the left and turn right, then walk past the door on the left.
