Mary does not have a “real” job, she is a writer who writes for a website and a magazine. This is a fairly common scenario in the blogging world. You are not paid to write for a website/magazine, but you are paid to write for a website/magazine (and to maintain the site/magazine), and if you fail to do that, it’s called “lack of care.
The lack of care Mary mentions is a matter of perspective. While some writers may receive a small amount of money for writing a blog, it is very common for a blogger to be struggling to find work in order to make ends meet.
Like Mary, bloggers are often writers who are struggling to find work in order to make ends meet, and unlike Mary, I do not receive a small amount of money for writing blogs. My blog, marydillon.com, is completely free. I’ve been blogging it for years, but I haven’t received any payment for it.
I want to make the best of it. What I want is a better way to spend money than the alternative.
I’ve had to make some money from blogging for years, but I’ve never had to make anything. I can’t make money by doing anything else. I don’t have a business plan. I don’t have insurance. I’ve never had to make any money from blogging.
This is the first time Ive ever received money for providing a service.
