I know I’m a jack buchanan sort of person. I’m a jack buchanan because I can’t stop myself from doing/not doing things that make me feel bad. I can use my self-awareness to stop negative thoughts and feelings from coming back on me again, and I can also use my self-awareness (to a certain extent) to stop myself from doing bad things.
The thing is that most people are not aware of how many bad things they are doing to themselves. Many people don’t realize that when they don’t do something for the first time, they can start to feel anxious about it, or even start to feel really bad about themselves. This is called “the habit” that they don’t have to stop.
