I’ve been doing this work for the past three years, and have come to realize that the “24” is the new “24×7”.
This is a new concept that’s all about reducing time spent on the go. The 24-hour rule is a good example of this. Imagine if you worked your entire job and then went home at 24 hours. You probably wouldn’t want to do it, because you’d probably end up working twice as hard as you did.
The 24-hour rule is one of the things that keeps me from using my phone very much. It’s one of the things that keeps me from working on weekends. I am a big proponent of being able to use my phone as much as possible, because working on a project while on vacation is a waste of time. The 24-hour rule is a good example of this. Imagine if you worked your entire job and then went home at 24 hours.
Some people have it worse than not being able to work out of their homes. I am not one of these people; my work schedule is flexible from Friday to Sunday. If I was working on a product, I am not working 12 hour days, I am working a 24 hour day (or longer), I am working on weekends, and I am working during the peak of the holiday season (i.e., Christmas).
24 hours is still a valid business rule as long as you have something to do on the weekend. I have a lot that I can’t do during the week, so a full 24 hours of work is probably not what I need.
With a more flexible work schedule, I don’t think so. If you are the type of person who needs a lot of flexibility, make sure that you have some downtime or something to do throughout the week that will take you away from work. Like going out, driving, and shopping. I have some of those, but I am not someone who needs a lot of downtime.
You might have to work a little harder, but you can always find a way to take time out of your day. The key is to make it the reason you are doing the work, not because you need to. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that because they are doing something they need to be doing it all day, just to have the time to do it. That is not true at all.
That is not true at all. Sure it is nice to get an hour to yourself, but the truth is, that’s a small price to pay for a life full of freedom and productivity. Instead of looking at the world around you and saying “Well, I need to be working, so I have to set aside some time to work,” look at what you have to do and why.
You are more productive when you have some time to yourself. You can see the world more clearly, talk to people you don’t normally talk to, and get some work done. There is no sacrifice involved in being productive, the only sacrifice is the time it takes you to accomplish it.
The best way to get your work done is to just do it. It will save you some time, but it can also save your sanity.
