At my previous company, our chief business officer was known as the “boss”, my deputy was the “assistant”, and the sales manager was the “accountant”. Now, that’s not to say that the three of us are completely equal. The assistant and the accountant are equally important at my previous company, but they weren’t on the same level as the boss and the sales manager.
The reason behind this is because the assistant and the accountant were not doing the work that the boss and the sales manager were doing. In other words, they were not doing the work that the sales manager was doing, but the assistant and the accountant were doing the work of the sales manager, and vice versa. When the boss was promoted to the position of chief business officer he was given more responsibility, and the sales manager was made to report to him.
It’s a little disingenuous for the chief business officer to complain about the sales manager not doing the work that they were doing. They both did the work, and the boss does not think that the sales manager should be complaining.
The chief business officer is supposed to be an employee of the company. They should be performing the work of the company, and they would be doing that if they were not in the role they are in. The sales manager, however, is not a part of the company. He is a part of the sales team.
The sales manager should be performing the work of the company, but he is a part of the sales team. He is supposed to be performing the work of the company, and he is doing that. The sales manager’s job is to make sales. If he is not selling, then he is not doing the work of the company. We all know that the sales manager is a part of the company. A sales manager’s job is to make sales.
