I think it goes without saying that we can’t just assume the way things are. We can’t just assume that we will always be in a positive place and that things will always go our way. We are humans, and we do have some control over our lives. And what is that control? It’s a little thing called self-awareness.
This is a quote from a long-time Epmd employee who tells us that the “self-awareness” he refers to is not just about being aware of the negative things that happen to us, but about how to change the negative things that happen to us. He says this is the same thing we all have to work on in our own lives.
The self-awareness we need to do is about being aware of what we can do to control things. It involves being aware of the positive things that happen to us and working to make those happen more often.
Epmd is pretty much the same company we’ve known since the early days of the MMO genre. But in this case, since the self-awareness I’m talking about is about being aware of the positive things you can do to control how you react to them, the company is pretty much all about business as usual. But the reality is that all of us can do the same things to control what we think and feel about what we do.
I think I know the answer to how this company got so successful. One day they decided to start selling themselves, so they sent out an email asking for ideas for how they could sell themselves better. One of the ideas was to send out a series of e-mails to the users asking them to click on the company logo in order to start buying the company’s products. This would have worked, but it’s also pretty much the same as what we do for our own companies.
So e-mails were sent to all of the users. For each email you clicked on the company logo, you got a small amount of money. They only sent it once per email, so don’t expect to be able to buy any products from the company.
I see this as a good practice. One of the main reasons I like the way we send e-mails is that it keeps us on track with what we’re doing. We know that users can unsubscribe if they don’t want to be kept up to date with our messages.
A lot of businesses in my opinion, actually even the ones we work with, send their regular newsletter as well. They either send it once a month or so, or they send it on a regular basis. Usually they send it as a list of articles, but if it’s just a regular email I don’t see any problem with it.
I think it would be great if the list of articles just had a little icon in the upper right-hand corner that suggested the articles are published, or at least up to date. We also should have a little indicator so they can easily unsubscribe.
