Many of the issues and challenges we face are not directly related to the business itself. However, people often give the business money directly because they know this is what will make life better for others.
This is one of those cases where it’s hard to find out what the business does because so many different businesses have the same business model. I like to think of this as the “business model” of the business.
For example, there is a great number of small businesses that run charities. It’s easy to find these businesses online because the website will give you a very quick overview of the business and its missions. It’s also easy to find a few charities that do charity work and donate directly to their cause, such as the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma. But does this mean it is actually a good thing? Is it effective? The answer is yes.
There is no question that charities are great because they do good things for our society and for the people who support them. But charities are also expensive. Many are funded by donations that require a personal check. It can be very draining to give up a paycheck to support such a life of being on the go.
But it gets worse. Many charities, such as the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, also engage in the practice of asking for tax dollars to spend on things other than those you personally believe are important. For example, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma asks you to “support these important causes,” which is an attempt to pay for things you believe should be publicly funded. But it isn’t.
To be clear, we do not endorse this behavior. We do not think it makes sense. And we do not think it can possibly lead to good for society. But it happens, often enough, that charities and nonprofits ask for tax dollars to support things that you yourself don’t fund. And that’s okay.
Just because you support a cause, doesn’t mean YOU have to go out and do it, or that your cause is more important than your company. You can support your company, and your company can support your cause, but not every charity or nonprofit has to ask for money. If you are a business, you can ask for money, but you should really look for ways to give to charities and nonprofits that you have no control over.
Another very good reason to engage in philanthropy is that there are a fair number of companies that are simply too small to be worth the time and expense of doing all the proper paperwork and paperwork and paperwork. One of the most important steps to a company’s development is to make sure that each and every dollar that you spend is going to the right place.
Of course, this is the same thing that is happening with the businesses within our lives. As we engage in activities to give, we are taking a step back from ourselves. Not only is it good for our emotional health, but it can also provide us with the motivation to do it with a sense of purpose.
That’s why it’s so important to look at the things that you’re doing to make your company a better place, and ask yourself if you’re giving money to the right place. In our business, we’re helping to build a community in the Bay Area; we’re helping to provide jobs for people who might otherwise never find out they have a place to live; we’re investing in schools; we’re donating tons of money to charity.
